  Siren

The brig Siren, bound for Port Phillip, with stores and a military detachment was, after an absence of 21 days, compelled again to bear up for this port, being nearly out of provisions and water, Captain Munro had got as far as Twofold Bay, but continued heavy west-south-west gales of wind prevented him getting further. The schooner Kate went out of Twofold Bay, as the Siren went in, and had only a few hours, when a most tremendous gale of wind came from the westward. The Siren drove, but was brought up in 2.5 fathoms water, with the second anchor. The Siren laid three days in the Bay, and then again tried, but was also forced to return to Sydney with loss of boat, most of the moveables off deck and other damage.
