Hope arrived Jan 1839 barque, under command of Captain Hart arrived in Sydney 2 Oct 1838 and then to Port Phillip to arrive Jan 1839, was the first to bring 20 families consisting of 100 souls, plus 3 single men, from Sydney and 20 found work in Port Phillip with 18 employers - see my page on the Hope
